Public protest against setting up of sewage treatment plant
Coimbatore: Public laid siege protesting against setting up of wastewater treatment plant at Konavaikalpalayam.
Coimbatore Corporation is planning to set up a wastewater treatment plant at Arputham Nagar near Konavaikalpalayam, Coimbatore.
Residents have been protesting this as the site for the proposed wastewater treatment plant is near a children's park in the area. Despite the protests, the construction began today and following this, the resident held the officials siege and protested.
They said that the wastewater treatment plant should not be set up near the children's park. Corporation officials are holding negotiations with the protesting public.
