A policeman from the Karumathampatti police station was verbally abused and attacked by a drunken duo of father and son. Cases have been filed against both of them.
Coimbatore: A policeman from the Karumathampatti police station was verbally abused and attacked by a drunken duo of father and son. Cases have been filed against both of them.
Sakthivel (48), a lorry driver resides at Umanath Colony in Karumathampatti with his wife Vijaya and two sons, Praveen Kumar andArvind Kumar. Sakthivel's brother Arumugam (45) lives in the Elachipalayam Four Roads area in Karumathampatti and takes care of their parents. It is said that there have been lingering problems between the two brothers about taking care of their parents and property issues.
This being the case, Sakthivel and his son Praveen Kumar went to Arumugam's house in an inebriated state yesterday evening and got into an argument with the family.
Following this they also broke the window panes atArumugam's house and went back home. Arumugam's wife Bharathi called the Police Control room and placed a complaint. Panneerselvam (Police no.1276), a cop from Karumathampatti Police Station visited Sakthivel's house to investigate the issue. Under the influence of alcohol, the duo of father and son, Sakthivel and Praveen Kumar, verbally abused the policeman and attacked him.
Following this, Panneerselvam called Karumathampatti Sub Inspector Aravind Kumar who sent two more cops to help policemen Panneerselvam in apprehending Sakthivel and Praveen Kumar and bringing them to the station. Drunkenness certificates were issued to the duo by Somanur Government Hospital following which cases have been filed against them.
