The COVID-19 lockdown came with rules that were meant to protect the public from spreading and contracting the disease.One of the primary restrictions that was enforced was the closing of inter-district borders. However, this restriction was eased from June 1 and travel between districts was permitted without an e-pass.
Following this the movement of vehicles from Coimbatore to Tirupur and via Tirupur began. Under the orders of the Tirupur District Administration, vehicles from Coimbatore are inspected near Karanampettai. Vehicles are permitted to enter the district only after passengers are thermal screened and their Aadhaar numbers are taken.
As a result of this, vehicles wait in long queues before entering the district.
