Isha nurseries to reopen tomorrow
Isha nurseries will be operating throughout Tamil Nadu starting. Incidentally, the World Environment Day is observed tomorrow. All Isha Mahatma Green India project nurseries, which were temporarily closed due to the lockdown are set to reopen tomorrow, June 5.
Isha nurseries are operating out of 32 places including Coimbatore, Trichy, Madurai, Tanjore, Vellore and Thiruvannamalai. Millions of tree saplings are reared and distributed to farmers and the public annually through these nurseries.
The nurseries were temporarily closed on March 25 due to the lockdown. With Unlock 1.0 in progress, all of them will be reopened after 72 days tomorrow on the World Environment Day. The nurseries will be open from 9.30 am to 5.30 pm.
All kinds of timber trees such as teak and redwood, shade trees such as pungan, vengai, and manjal konrai and fruit trees like guava, gooseberry and jamun are ready for distribution.
It is the ideal time for planting trees as the monsoon season begins this month. Isha has urged farmers and public to take advantage of this. Arrangements have been made to follow the social distancing norms and hand sanitizers will be in place in the nurseries.
The Isha nurseries in the Red Zones of Chennai and Chengalpattu will remain closed.
