MLA N. Karthik calls on arrested Coimbatore DMK East Zone secretary
Coimbatore: Following the arrest of A Durai, Coimbatore East Zone DMK secretary, Singanallur MLA N. Karthik visited him. Executive member MK Muthu, North District Deputy Secretary Vadavalli Durai, Zonal Secretary VM Shanmugasundaram and other DMK executives were also present.
The AIADMK MLA Shanmugam lodged a complaint with the Kinathukadavu police station alleging that DMK Secretary Thendral Selvaraj held a meeting defying curfew and also posted a slanderous video on Minister SP Velumani.
Following the compliant, Kinathukadavu police registered a case against Thendral Selvaraj and his assistant Keerthi Anand and arrested them on Saturday night. Subsequently, they were produced before the Pollachi magistrate and imprisoned in Gobichettipalayam jail.
The DMK has alleged that Thendral Selvaraj and Keerthi Anand have been arrested for political reasons.
The MLA of Coimbatore East DMK, N Karthik met him today. Later, he spoke to the press and said that the arrest was made due to political reasons and condemned the government for taking revenge in a time when the coronavirus threat is gripping the state.
Further, he added that they do not fear the biased police and had filed an anticipatory bail plea before the Coimbatore District Court yesterday. He added, "We are going to continuously fight against the corrupt Coimbatore AIADMK."
