Coimbatore: Podanur police on Saturday arrested three men in connection with a murder of a 60-year-old man, who was found dead in Echanari here.
According to Police, they had identified the connection of the murder with the fake propaganda that Rs. 2000 note would be cancelled and Rs. 1000 note would be reintroduced by the Reserve Bank of India.
The deceased Shanmugham from Kauvdampalayam, who was found dead near a Tasmac outlet, was reportedly murdered by Madhusudhanan, Sathish and Maheshwaran.
While Sathish is the Manager of Axis Bank in Madukkarai branch, Maheshwaran was the Sales Manager in the same branch and Madhusudhanan was their friend.
Investigations revealed that Sathish had cheated Shanmugham, a realtor, with the propaganda and had given Rs. 4.25 lakh of Rs. 500 notes in place of a promised Rs. 5 lakh worth Rs. 2000 notes.
However, Shanmugham had not given the money, which created a quarrel between them. Following a verbal quarrel, the trio had attacked Shanmugham killing him on the spot and fled the scene.
In the following turn of events, the trio was arrested by Podanur police.
