Coimbatore: In order to provide safe homes to the residents of the Housing Unit near Singanallur Uzhavar Sandhai, N. Karthick, DMK District Head and MLA of the Singanallur Constituency demanded the Government offer them new houses at the same plot.
MLA Karthick, who inspected the 35-year-old building on Saturday, claimed that the houses have gone beyond repair and could collapse any time.
“Around 960 families reside in the buildings and they have paid the house cost. The Government should demolish the current building, which is already damaged and build new houses for them immediately,” he said.
He further claimed that despite pressing the State regarding the issue in the Assembly, the Government had reportedly kept silent.
