Coimbatore: A fire call was received at 8:35 am after which a fire engine and an ambulance were rushed to the Five Corner in Town hall on Wednesday, an official said.
The public reported the incident after they saw thick fumes of smoke emanating from a shop located on a three-storey building in Five Corner area in Townhall.
Initial reports suggest that an electric short circuit could have triggered fire. Bags worth lakhs of rupees are reported to have gutted in a fire. However, no casualities are reported. After a tough fight, the fire personnel have doused the fire.
A case has been filed at Variety hall road police station. Investigations are on.
