14 days judicial custody for Naagai Thiruvalluvan of Tamil Puligal Katchi and 24 others

Coimbatore: Justice PM Raikhana Parveen, District Munsif cum Judicial Magistrate at Madukkarai Court ordered 14 days judicial custody for 25 people arrested in Mettupalayam for holding protest in support of the families of 17 people who died in tragedy on Monday.

Coimbatore: Justice PM Raikhana Parveen, District Munsif cum Judicial Magistrate at Madukkarai Court ordered 14 days judicial custody for 25 people arrested in Mettupalayam for holding protest in support of the families of 17 people who died in tragedy on Monday. 

17 people including women and children were crushed to death after a compound wall collapsed on four houses in A.T. Colony in Mettupalayam on Monday. The families of the victims who are on a spree of protests since Monday have placed four demands to the government including Rs. 25 lakh compensation for every victim. 

Supporting their demands, political parties and caste-based organisations joined hands with the victims families and held a protest on Tuesday at MTP. Despite the assurance from the District Collector, K. Rajamani for passing their demands to the State government, the protestors took to the streets, yet again.

Following which 25 people who reportedly spearheaded the protest including Tamil Puligal Katchi, Leader Naagai Thiruvalluvan and Dravida Katchi leader Venmani were courted arrest and remanded. 

Justice PM Raikhana Parveen of District Munsif Court at Madukkarai ordered 14 days judicial custody for all 25 people.
