Coimbatore: The abandoned newborn baby which was undergoing treatment at Coimbatore Government hospital here was handed over to the incharge of Children's Home in Kinathudavu here.

According to hospital reports, on November 23, an unmarried young woman from the Nilgiris district was admitted at CMCH for delivery. On the same day she delivered a baby girl. As the baby girl was underweight, the baby was kept in NICU.
Shockingly, the baby's mother abandoned the baby and left the hospital on the next day. A complaint was filed at the Race Course police on the issue.

The Hospital Administration informed the issue to the Child Welfare Committee who visited the child at the hospital. As the health of the child progressed, Resident Doctor at CMCH, Soundravel and Sundar, Child Welfare Officer handed over the child for adoption to Kinnathukadavu Children's home.
