Tirupur: In a bid to ensure safe roads and accident free city, time and again, awareness campaigns to educate the school/college students and masses are being organised by the Regional Transport offices.
In one such initiative by the Regional Transport Office, Tirupur (south), a 'Road Safety' awareness exhibition was organised at Veerapandi in Tirupur on Wednesday. The exhibition was inaugurated by District Collector, K. VijayaKarthikeyan.
The expo highlighted about traffic rules and signs. Every traffic sign was explained in detail to make the kids understand the purpose of the sign.
Interactive and practical sessions on road safety, traffic rules adherence, vehicle operation, airbag deployment, importance of buckling up seat belts, wearing helmet, avoiding cell phones while driving etc were also taught to the students.
It may be noted that on behalf of regional transport offices, a host of initiatives have been planned for generating awareness and sensitising people about safe road usage during the upcoming National Road Safety Week in February, 2020.
