Tirupur: In a heartbreaking incident in Tirupur, an elderly couple allegedly committed suicide after their sons and daughter were unwilling to take care of them.
Palanisamy (78), Muthulakshmi (68) of Maakaliamman Kovil Street near Veerapandi in Tirupur reportedly committed suicide at Porur stating that they had no one to help them, as both suffered from extreme knee pain and other ageing issues.
Though the couple have three children who are married and settled, they elderly couple were said to be in a dejected state as none of them offered to look after them. The distressed couple took the extreme step and hung themselves in their home on Wednesday.
The Veerapandi police have registered a case and are investigating.
The police sent the bodies for post-mortem to Tirupur GH.
