Coimbatore: A preparatory meeting for local body elections was held at the District Collector's Office headed by the Election Commissioner here on Tuesday.
On behalf of the TN Election Commission, review meetings are being held at every district to ascertain the preparedness for the upcoming local body elections.
The second phase of the preparatory meeting was convened by Palanisamy, Tamil Nadu Election Commissioner with the participation of the election officials from the districts of Erode, Tirupur, Nilgiris and Coimbatore.
The discussion was focussed on conducting local body elections, implementing election regulations, security functions, voting and counting, training of government officials, verification of polling machines and polling booths.
"With the past experiences during the local elections, we aim to conduct this year's election in a better manner", Sai Tamil Nadu Elections Commissioner Palanisamy.
He said the local election would be a challenging task and everyone should work together to hold elections without prejudice. He gave the manuals of election regulations to the election officials and asked them to comply with the rules.
