Nachimuthu (81) and Saraswathi (78) hails from PKR Layout, Perichipalayam, Tirupur. The elderly couple have 4 sons. Meanwhile, it is alleged that Selvaraj, their grandson promised to take care of them until their death, if they register their 2 .75 cents of land in Perichiplayam in his name.
The elderly couple who trusted his words transfered the property to their grandson who later abandoned them.
Seeking justice, the distressed couple tried to self-immolate using kerosene in front of the Tirupur District Collectorate.

The police guards in front of the Collectorate stopped the couple and took them to the South Police station.
