The Nilgiris: While trying to squeeze through a wired mesh, a leopard reportedly died at a private agricultural land in Aliyur village, Kotagiri.
After been informed by the estate workers of a leopard battling for life after being stuck in a mesh, the forest department staff rushed to the spot and commenced the rescue operations.
However, after few hours of struggle the leopard was reported dead. The forest officials stated that the leopard could be around two years and deep cuts in its body could have caused the death.
Investigations are underway.
