Coimbatore: Often we belittle the responsibility of a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in comparison with Chief Executive Officer (CEO) whilst both these roles play an integral part in the company's growth.

In a bid to highlight the multi tasking job nature of CFOs and how their responsibility doesn't stop with the company's past and present financial situation but his decisions determine the financial future of the company, the Coimbatore Management Association (CMA) organised a a Round Table meeting for CFO's at SIEMA building here on Friday.

The discussion was regarded to be a need of the hour, as in the backdrop of current complex and unstable global economy, the role of CFO has become even more significant, as from financial reportage he has to prudently decide where and when to invest company funds.
The meeting had four sessions with lectures by expert speakers from various domains like consulting, banking, academia and financial journalism who offered extensive inputs and compliances of CFO.

Talking at the meeting Vinay Gulati, Partner Management Consulting, KPMG spoke on 'Increasing relevance of the corporate money manager'.
He stated that technologies will replace people working in the finance profession. With rapid advancements in technology, hierarchy in an organisation will be made more simple. "More technologies and machines will be used in the future so that CFO will have a better role to play", he opined.

Discussing on 'FTA's Impact on Business', D. Arvind, Managing Partner.of D. Arvind and Associates LLP added that, importers and exporters should know about the Free Trade Agreement to get complete exemption on duty, concession rates and removal of prohibition.

The session also had panel discussions on topic CFO's role in managing the downturn headed by Raghuvir Srinivasan, Business Editor, The Hindu.
CFOs from reputed organisations and members of CMA actively took part in the session.
