The Nilgiris: Calling the Centre's policies as 'unyielding', A.M. Vikrama Raja, President of Federation of Tamil Nadu Traders' Association apprised on a state-wide protest against the policies devised by the Centre against traders.
Partcipating in an event organized by the Nilgiris Merchants Association on Friday, the President of Traders Union slammed the Centre and their demonetization policy. He alleged that due to demonetisation numerous businesses have taken a major blow and many were even forced to shut their operations.
Highlighting the plight of the small traders here, he said "The growing culture of online shopping has crushed the income of small and medium players. Especially, online shopping has paved way for movement of sub standard products like grocery, medicines and fruits."
"The laws passed by the Central Government to regulate online trading was just an eyewash. Large scale violations are very much prevalent", he alleged.
He chided that foreign traders were enjoying increased sales in India as they knew how to tackle the local authorities for keeping their business afloat.
He concluded that a protest would be held against the Central and State Governments regarding flawed policies. The date of the protest would be discussed during the Trade Unions meet to be held on Saturday, he informed.
