The Nilgiris: Normal life has been disrupted in Coonoor after heavy rains lashed the town on Thursday night.

As incessant rains continue to batter the district of Nilgiris, the Chennai Meteorological Department has predicted more rains in the region until tomorrow and heavy rains after November 25.

Roads leading to several villages have got completely cut off due to floods and soul erosion. Though repair works are underway, continous rains has been causing delay in execution. Meanwhile, widespread rains lashed Coonoor on Thursday night, which caused heavy waterlogging across the town.

Besides Coonoor, Ooty also experienced heavy thunderstorms. Heavy mist has affected vehicular traffic along the Ooty-Coonoor Highway.

A number of vehicles including State-run buses and cars were stranded along the highway this morning due to heavy mist.

"The traffic is moving at snail pace due to slippery road conditions and mist. Motorists are advised to take extra care at hairpin bends", said an official involved in repair works.
