Coimbatore: With more dengue cases reported in the area close to 105 RAF campus located at Mahalingapuram, a dengue awareness campaign was held in the area on Thursday to educate the people on the mosquito-borne fever.

Due to close proximity of RAF campus to Vellalore dumpyard, the area is prone to high mosquito infestation. The residents also complain that recently, dengue cases have increased in their area due to mosquito infestation.
In this regard 105 RAF organised Dengue Awareness campaign at 105 Battallion, CRPF, Coimbatore on November 21.
Dr Shivchandran (Dist. Epidemiologist), Dr Parimala (Block Medical Officer) and Vellore Health Department delivered a lecture on Dengue awareness and its preventive measures.
The programme was conducted to combat the mosquito-borne fever and to raise awareness among the masses. The program was organised by O. Vidhya Jayakrishnan (Head Regional Family Welfare Association), Sumita Dubey, Dr Anuttama (Senior Medical Officer), K Nirmal (Deputy Commandant) and Officers of 105 RAF.
During the campaign, the awareness was spread among around 450 families.
