Speaking to the press about the event , C Devarajan, Vice Chairman, Tex Valley said “This is a one-of-a kind expo, as it is the only platform to connect weavers and associations with buyers. In a normal scenario, weavers dont gain access to buyers directly. Though textile industry provides employment equal to agriculture, the fragmentation prevailing in the industry is a major hindrance for the growth of the industry."
He apprised that "During first edition of Weaves, we managed to generate potential business enquiries worth Rs. 400 crores and this year we expect to touch Rs.1000 crores."
Speaking about Weaves, R. Varadarajan , Chairman, CII Coimbatore said, “Weaves will be a great platform for the weaving community from Coimbatore, Tirupur and Erode to connect to global customers. They can showcase their products and gain access to international buyers from Srilanka and many other South East Asian countries. CII coimbatore is proud to be associated with such an event.“
The organisers noted that 250 exhibitors will have their stalls at the expo and they expect to have more than 10000 visitors, this year. B2B meetings, special addresses by experts seminars and fashion show will be conducted, as part of the expo, they said.
