Coimbatore: Human rights lawyer PP Mohan on Tuesday has registered a case in Madras High Court against Coimbatore Prison Superintendent and Assistant Resident doctor for denying permission to meet Maoist Deepak, despite court orders.
Advocate Mohan pointed that hearing a petition filed to meet Deepak on Tuesday, Justice Sakthivel of Principal Sessions Court here accorded permission for the lawyers representing Deepak to visit him. However, the lawyers have been denied permission to meet Deepak who presently is being treated at the Prisoners Treatment Unit.
He alleged that Assistant Resident Medical Officer, Ponmudi Selvan refused to permit the lawyers to meet Deepak. Following this, a group of Human Rights advocates sought permission from the hospital management, reminding them to implement the Court order.
The advocates showed a copy of the Court order permitting them to meet Maoist Deepak, yet the police refused to grant permission, they accused.
