The Nilgiris: Heavy rains that lashed Coonoor in Nilgiris District a few days ago had caused landslides in 11 spots and also uprooted trees in a few places on the Coonoor-Mettupalayam road.
The Nilgiris: Heavy rains that lashed Coonoor in Nilgiris District a few days ago had caused landslides in 11 spots and also uprooted trees in a few places on the Coonoor-Mettupalayam road.

Though road repair work is usually undertaken promptly, intermittent rains at night continued to cause landslides.

The Coonoor-Mettupalayam road, Manjoor Road and various other roads which had been severely affected due to landslides are now being quickly repaired with Poclain excavators, Hitachi (Compressor) Komatsu and tipper trucks. Debris from the landslides are being cleared quickly. Officials assured that restoration of the roads will be done quickly to ensure normalcy returns for smooth flow of traffic on these roads.
