Coimbatore: Over 45,000 differently-abled people registered for the employment fair held in the city here on Friday. The fair held at Hindustan College here was inaugurated by District Collector K. Rajamani in the presence of District Welfare Officer for differently abled.
Coimbatore: Over 45,000 differently-abled people registered for the employment fair held in the city here on Friday. The fair held at Hindustan College here was inaugurated by District Collector K. Rajamani in the presence of District Welfare Officer for differently abled.
The fair aims at empowering persons with disabilities and ensuring inclusiveness and equality in the society. The fair was jointly organised by the District Welfare Office for the differently abled, District Employment and Vocational Guidance Centre, Cheshire Homes for mentally ill and physically challenged and Social Work Department of Hindustan College of Arts and Science.
Hundreds of differently abled people from the districts of Nilgiris, Tirupur, Erode and Coimbatore participated in the camp in which 54 private companies including hospitals, insurance companies, textile companies and others took part.
Differently abled people who were keen to be self-employed or start their own business were given advice on necessary documentation for procurement of bank loans and welfare schemes.
Additionally, over 300 college students and employees of private company were present to assist the participants. As part of the camp, a free health check up was organised by Arvind eye hospital and PSG hospitals.
