According to a data from the monthly review meeting of Smart cities progress held at Chennai yesterday, Coimbatore was ranked no.1 ahead of Erode which came second and Chennai which was ranked third.
Consistent performance and timely execution of projects over the past six months has won the place for the city. This quarter, 46 projects worth Rs. 1038.91 crores have been undertaken which presently is at various stages of implementation.
According to the data received 18 projects under smart city mission have been completed so far at a cost of Rs. 72.67 crores and 19 are under execution at a cost of Rs. 706.2 crores. While other projects are either at tender processing stage or DPR preparation stage.
Completed and Ongoing Projects
Among the completed projects are smart city application, solar power plant at Ukkadam and others. The works that are under execution are model road, 24x7 drinking water supply, replacement of existing conventional street lights by smart LED lamps, lake restoration, and rejuvenation. And, tender for a model road project at TV Samy road and Race Course road would be called for shortly.
