The tourists who had prebooked tickets for the journey were left disappointed after the Southern Railway has cancelled the Nilgiris Mountain Rail service due to landslides.
"Due to heavy rain last night, a major landslide has occured on the Adderly-Hillgrove rail stretch. The tracks have been covered with boulders and heaps of slushy mud. Works to clear the debris are underway, soon, the NMR will resume its services", an official confirmed.
It is to be noted that the services of the mountain rail was disrupted for the sixth time, today after the commencement of Northeast monsoons.
