Heavy downpour has been reported in Mettupalayam and Kallar where the NMR railway line runs through. In the past weeks, multiple landslides occurred along the mountain railway line, disrupting train transport due to which tourists were stranded midway and had to be transported by buses.
Since the meteorological department has announced that heavy rains are likely to hit the districts of Coimbatore and Nilgiris, as a precautionary measure, the Southern Railways announced that the mountain train from Mettupalayam to Ooty will stand cancelled for three days - October 31, November 1 and 2.
