Coimbatore: Strengthening their anti-dengue campaign, the Coimbatore City Corporation has been visiting every household to create awareness on the vector-borne disease that has spiked up recently in the district. With dengue cases on tbe rise and monsoons gearing up, the Corportaion Commissioner has ordered to tighten the vigilance by ci ducting Door-to-door awareness.
In one such initiative, Deputy Commissioner (DC), K. Prasanna Ramasamy along with Assistant Commissioner of Central Zone, Mahesh Kanagaraj and Regional Health Inspectors inspected the households at 54th ward of Central Zone, Sarojini Street, Ram Nagar.
During the visit the Corporation DC advised the residents to keep their premises without water stagnation and use bleaching powder outside their houses.
The workers also administered Abate solution to standing water to kill mosquito larvae.
He also advised the households to keep a thorough check on water accumulation in refrigerator tray and insisted to clean them regularly, since it is one of the proven breeding sources of dengue-causing mosquitoes.
He also advise them to periodically check water tanks and sumps and urged to dispose plastic wastes, used tyres and coconut shells.
The Corporation also plans to hold ward-wise inspections at residential areas, commercial establishments and educational institutions.
Fumigation, fogging and timely clearing of garbage are being focussed by CCMC to control spread of dengue.
The public are requested to cooperate with the anti-dengue teams to curb and eradicate the mosquito-borne diseases.
