Coimbatore: Political parties pay respect to Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar on his 112th birth anniversary.
Every year, in remembrance of Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar Jayanthi, large numbers of people and political leaders pay respect to the leader on October 30 at his memorial in Pasumpon Village, near Kamudi block in Ramanathapuram district.
On the occasion of the 112th birth anniversary of Muthuramalinga Thevar Jayanthi and the 57th Guru Puja festival, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Edappadi K Palaniswami paid a floral tribute to Muthuramalinga Thevar's statue in Goripalayam, Madurai. The Deputy CM, O Paneerselvam, Ministers Sellur Raju and R P Udhayakumar also paid floral tribute to Thevar.
Muthuramalinga Thevar's portrait on 80 feet road near Makali Amman temple in Olumpus was also decorated. Political party cadres also paid their respects to the statues of Maruthu Pandiyar and Velu Nachiyar.
MLA Amman Arujunan of AIADMK, MLA N Karthik of DMK, Vanathi Srinivasan, the District Secretary of BJP, Thevar Peravai, Pulipadai Amaipinar also paid their respects to Thevar. Former councillors Udayakumar and Sakthivel Rajkumar were also present at the event.
