Coimbatore : In a tragic incident, a 29-year-old man and a sambar deer succumbed to injuries after his two wheeler hit the deer on the Azhiyar to Valparai Road in the evening hours today.
Coimbatore : In a tragic incident, a 29-year-old man and a sambar deer succumbed to injuries after his two wheeler hit the deer on the Azhiyar to Valparai Road in the evening hours today.
The deceased identified as Kaleeshwaran was riding in his two-wheeler near Monkey Falls near Aliyar dam around 4.30 pm along with Muthukumar when he hit the sambar deer. He was reportedly riding without a helmet.
Kaleeshwaran sustained severe injuries on the left leg, shoulder and head and succumbed on the spot. The deer also succumbed to injuries.
Muthukumar, the pillion rider sustained minor injuries on the left leg and was taken to the Pollachi Government Hospital for treatment.
Reacting to the incident, activists have requested officials to install speed breakers every 50 meters to safeguard wild animals and people.
