Tirupur : The enraged public on Monday rounded up two men in Tirupur for selling ice creams past their shelf life.
Tirupur : The enraged public on Monday rounded up two men in Tirupur for selling ice creams past their shelf life.
Ramachandran (32) and Mayilsamy (56) were selling ice creams in a cart at Doom light ground area in Tirupur on Monday morning. Two kids had reportedly brought ice creams from them and consumed. A short while later, both the kids fell ill. The parents who suspected that the ice cream could be adulterated rounded up the ice cream seller.
The public also joined along with the parents and inspected the freezer of the ice cream cart. As the freezer smelt bad, the public inquired with the vendors and found that they have been selling ice creams beyond shelf lives.
The duo were later handed over to the Tirupur police (south). Upon investigation, it was revealed that the duo are employed by Jagdish, owner of Eswaran ice cream company on Kangeyam road.
The food and safety officials were alerted on the issue and have apprised that legal action would be initiated, if sub standard ice creams and ice creams beyond shelf lives are sold by the company.
