Sri Subramaniya Swamy Temple's 7th 'Kandha Sashti Thiruvizha' in Valparai begins with festive fervour

Coimbatore: The seventh 'Kandha Sashti Thiruvizha' of the Sri Subramaniyaswamy Temple in Valparai began with festive fervour, in a grand manner, today.

Coimbatore: The seventh 'Kandha Sashti Thiruvizha' of the Sri Subramaniyaswamy Temple in Valparai began with festive fervour, in a grand manner, today.

The day started with the Ganapati Homam followed by 'Abhishekam' to Lord Subramaniyar. Later, the deity was taken a a procession around the premises with the percussion rhythm. At 10.30 am after the Deeparadhana, the flag was hoisted in the temple premises amid special puja and mantras being chanted, along with devotees chanting 'Arogara.' 

Following the flag hoisting, Lord Subramanya was worshipped with Deeparadhana and special Abhishekam. It is to be noted that the Soora Samharam, Annadhanam, and Thiru Kalyanam will be held on November 2. 

Later in the evening, the deities Valli and Theivanai were taken out in a decorated car procession amid Singari Mela, Chikkatam and percussion rhythm. The flag was later brought down, in the evening. Colourful fireworks added grandeur to the festival organised by the Kandha Sashti Festival Committee. A large number of devotees thronged the temple to participate in the festival.
