Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu Government Doctors Association (TNGDA) State Secretary Dr. N Ravishankar, in a press meet here, today has announced that TNGDA representing about 16,250 of the total of 18,000 government doctors would be hold a strike on October 30 and 31 pressing a charter of demands including pay parity.

While more than 15,000 government doctors affiliated to the Federation of Government Doctors Association (FGDA) on Friday have launched an indefinite strike across Tamil Nadu pressing a four-point charter of demands including time-bound promotion, pay parity with central government doctors, restoring fifty per cent quota in postgraduate medical education for Government doctors, the TNGDA have now announced to hold strike for two days to condemn the State government for refusing to pay heed to their fair pleas.
At a press meet held at Coimbatore GH, on Saturday, Dr. Ravishankar along with doctors from GH apprised of the strike and stated that the over 18000 doctors from TN would be taking part in two-day strike.
He also added that 800 government doctors from Coimbatore district would be part of the strike.
Dr. Ravishankar noted that keeping in mind of critically-ill patients, few doctors attending to emergency services would be available on both the days of the strike.
