Coimbatore: Tribal dances, distribution of welfare measures and gifts marked the 'Vana' Deepavali celebrations today at the Maruthangarai Keezhpathi village on Saturday.
Coimbatore: Tribal dances, distribution of welfare measures and gifts marked the 'Vana' Deepavali celebrations today at the Maruthangarai Keezhpathi village on Saturday.
The celebrations were chaired by Sujit Kumar, Superintendent of Police, A. Mohan Navas, Additional Superintendent of police, Naxalite special division (NSD), west zone, DSP Mani and inspectors from Thudiyalur and Thadagam police station took part in the event.
About 250 men and women from the tribal halmet took part in the event. Sarees, Dhotis and Sweets were distributed to the people by Murugan from NGO Nizhalmaiyam, Coimbatore. Rtn.RVS Natarajan, Rtn.Seetharaman and other Coimbatore Central Rotarians sponsored the gifts.
