Coimbatore: In an attempt to concentrate more on green practices during Deepavali, members of the Rotary Club Meridian and Tinkle Kendra offered steel water bottles to school children at Dhumanur in Anaikatti here.
As many as 60 students from the Union School in Dhumanur tribal hamlet received sweets along the water bottles.
They were also given an orientation about celebrating a green Deepavali without crackers, as the hamlet is surrounded by forests.
President Rtn Thamilselvan, Secretary Rtn Ramasamy, Treasurer Rtn Govindarajan, Community Chairman Rtn Mohanakrisnan and Tinkle Seva Kendra Founder Prof. Sureshkumar were present along with school staff.
