Coimbatore: Police protection has been strengthened in public areas for public safety, ahead of Diwali. With thousands thronging Bazaar Street and other shopping areas to shop for clothes, fireworks and sweets, security was beefed up further.
Coimbatore: Police protection has been strengthened in public areas for public safety, ahead of Diwali. With thousands thronging Bazaar Street and other shopping areas to shop for clothes, fireworks and sweets, security was beefed up further.

Crowded areas like Town Hall, Gandhipuram and R S Puram are prime areas for pickpockets, especially during festivals. The public have been warned to be alert to safeguard their belongings from miscreants.

For this purpose, Deputy Commissioner Balaji Saravanan and Perumal continued to work under the orders of Police Commissioner, Sumit Saran to ensure public safety during Diwali.

Observation towers have been set up and monitored continuously in seven locations including Ukkadam, Oppanakkara Street and Gandhipuram.
Moreover, police are intensifying safety measures by immediately arresting suspects. Likewise, police in mufti are keeping strict vigil.
