With the onset of the northwest monsoon, rains lashed Coimbatore district this past week. The district administration has taken various precautionary measures, and every Thursday is being observed as Dengue Eradication Day. Steps have been taken to collect waste and clean up any place that could help in the breeding of the Ades mosquitoes which cause. Water pots, old tyres, plastics, plant pots, OHT/Syntex tanks, coconut shells and many other household items in the compunds of homes are being cleared.
The public has been requested to cooperate in removing the debris in Government offices, public places, Industries, Housing Board areas, slum area, bus and railway stations, cinema theatres, theme parks and other entertainment areas.
