New Delhi: The Minister for Municipal Administration and RDI, S P Velumani met Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman at New Delhi today and handed over a petition.

New Delhi: The Minister for Municipal Administration and RDI, S P Velumani met Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman at New Delhi today and handed over a petition.

In his petition, S P Velumani thanked the Finance Minister for the efforts taken in reducing the GST rate from 18% to 12% on machine jobs, reducing the GST rate from 12% to 5% on wet grinders and for sanctioning a total amount of Rs.1608.03 crores as the second instalment of basic grant of the 14th Central Finance Commission for the year 2018-19 for the Rural and Urban Local Bodies in Tamil Nadu. 

Minister S P Velumani requested Nirmala Sitharaman to also reduce the GST rate for machine job order items from 12% to 5% which will benefit many micro and small scale industries. He also requested the Finance Minister to release the performance grant of Rs. 2029.22 crores for the year 2017-2018 to 2019-20 and the basic grant of Rs. 4345.47 crores for the year 2019-20 for the Rural and Urban Local Bodies as recommended by the 14th Central Finance Commission.

S P Velumani assured the Finance Minister that the Tamil Nadu Government will implement all the Rural and Urban Development Schemes of the Government of India.
