A team of six members from the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau raided the Tirupur Panchayat Union Office as well as the vehicles of employees. About Rs. 56,000 was seized from Tamilarasan, Pongupalayam Panchayat Secretary and unaccounted cash totalling to Rs. 82,000 was seized from the office.
With just three days before Diwali will be clebrated across the State, the raid by the Anti-Corruption Department on suspicion that officers could be gifted with money or materials proved to be true. The raid caused a stir at the Panchayat Union Office.
