Coimbatore: “Manuneethi Mugam” the mass contact programme was held at a private wedding hall in Nachipalayam village, Madukkarai, here today. Welfare schemes worth Rs.1.91 crores were distributed to 242 beneficiaries during the event.
Coimbatore: “Manuneethi Mugam” the mass contact programme was held at a private wedding hall in Nachipalayam village, Madukkarai, here today. Welfare schemes worth Rs.1.91 crores were distributed to 242 beneficiaries during the event.
Addressing the gathering, the District Collector said "The Tamil Nadu Government has launched numerous thoughtful welfare schemes for the benefit of the people. In a bid to ensure that the schemes reach the people on a timely manner, the officials of various departments are interacting with the beneficiaries through such mass contact programmes."
The Collector added that steps are being taken to create awareness among the masses in rural areas on the schemes introduced by the government. One such initiative is the 'Manuneethi Mugam' which is held on a monthly basis to bridge the gap between officials and the people.
He added that the aim of these camps is to enable government schemes reach even the remotest of villages in TN. "Scheme like old-age pension, farmer's protection scheme, gold for wedding, Muthulaksmi Reddy maternity scheme and free two-wheeler schemes for working women are some of the schemes designed to uplift the people from lower economic strata of society..And, it's important the schemes reach the right hands at the right time", the Collector noted.
Apart from the petitions received on the day of 'Manuneethi Mugam', the Collector stated that grievance petitions were being received 15 days prior and they have been brought to the notice of concerned officials for redressal.
Following which, he distributed old-age pension scheme worth Rs.11.16 lakhs to 93 beneficiaries, patta worth Rs. 17.95 lakhs to 35 beneficiaries, Rs. 45,000 to two beneficiaries under Farmer's protection scheme, education loan worth Rs.11, 250 to five beneficiaries.
Four beneficiaries from minoritiy and backward class were provided with sewing machine worth Rs.14,292, laundry servicing equipment worth Rs. 25,065 to five beneficiaries and on behalf of horticultural department Rs. 1.41 lakh worth irrigation equipments were provided to five beneficiaries.
Tree saplings worth Rs.400 to 20 beneficiaries, Rs. 32,688 water sprayer to two beneficiaries, ration cards and Rs. 1.63 crore worth of loans to 66 beneficiaries through co-operative banks were also provided. In total, 242 beneficiaries were distributed with welfare schemes worth Rs. 1.94 crores.
MLA Ettimadai A. Shanmugam, Divisional revenue officer (South)Thanalingam, Sub-Registrar of Co-operative banks Palanisamy, Deputy Director of Agricultural department, Chithra Devi, Horticulture Deputy Director, Uma Rani, Minority and Backward Class Welfare officer, Manimozhi and other government officials were present.
