Landslides near Kotagiri bus station forces evacuation of buses and passengers

The Nilgiris: Passengers as well as buses were evacuated from the Kotagiri bus station as debris from landslides fell near the bus station.

The Nilgiris: Passengers as well as buses were evacuated from the Kotagiri bus station as debris from landslides fell near the bus station. 

Incessant rains in the Nilgiris for the past five days has led to landslides in several areas, in the district. The landslides have been causing inconvenience to the public due to heavy traffic congestion.



Today, all of a sudden, landslides occurred behind the Kotagiri bus station with boulders falling across the bus station. Passengers and buses were immediately evacuated as a precaution. Firefighters have been stationed in front of the bus station in the event of emergencies.
