The Nilgiris: Hundreds of residents from Mullikkorai and Titukkal near Ooty filed a petition with the District Collector for lack of proper power supply for over two years.
Even though over 1000 families reside in Mullikkorai and Titukkal, there is no power supply to the region for at least four days a week. Since the power lines run through the forest areas, even a light gust of winds and some rain can cause a power failure.
This has caused extreme difficulties for school-going children to study at home int the evenings, as well as for residents to host functions at home. Hence, residents in these areas have submitted a petition to the District Collector for electrical lines to be sourced from main towns to ensure seamless power supply in their region.
