Coimbatore: The All India Lawyers Association staged a protest in front of the Co-ordinated Court Complex demanding stipend for young lawyers. They claimed that every year, many hundreds of students graduate in Law but most of them are from socially and economically backward regions. Hence, they insisted that the Government provide the young lawyers with a guaranteed stipend of Rs.5000 every month.

Hence, they insisted that the Government provide the young lawyers with a guaranteed stipend of Rs.5000 every month.

Addressing the media, the All India Lawyers Association said, "The Karnataka Government provides Rs. 2000 as stipend and the Puducherry Ggovernment provides Rs. 3000 every month for young lawyers and have now increased the amount to Rs. 5000 in the recent budget. The Kerala and Andhra Governments have also promised Rs. 5000 for young lawyers. Hence, we ask the Tamil Nadu Government to also take appropriate action and provide a stipend of Rs. 5000 to our young lawyers."
