As part of the ongoing traffic awareness initiative by Uyir trust, the 'Kutty Cops' initiative was launched today at Ganga Hospital.

As part of the ongoing traffic awareness initiative by Uyir trust, the 'Kutty Cops' initiative was launched today at Ganga Hospital.
The idea of the Kutty Cops program is to kindle the responsibility of the elders to abide traffic rules through kids.
Corporation Commissioner J. Sravan Kumar, Deputy Commissioner (Law & order) Balaji Saravanan, District Education Officer, Geetha, Dr. S. Rajasekaran, Managing trustee of Uyir trust and others took part in the launch.
Speaking on the occasion, Corporation Commissioner lauded the project and opined that such novel initiatives should be launched across the nation. He also commended Uyir trust for striving to make Kovai, an accident free city.
DC Balaji Saravanan in his address stated that most accidents occur due to violation of traffic rules and training children to abide traffic rules from a young age will make a notable change in the society. Children are a powerful tool to spread the message to larger audience.
"Empowering students and using them as ambassadors for spreading awareness on traffic rules will definitely yield good result. Such novel initiatives will help to groom the children into responsible citizens in the near future", said Geetha, District Educational Officer.
During the launch, handouts and manuals were distributed to the students belonging to grades 6 to 10. Based on the manuals, the student cops will be taught traffic rules through video presentation.
