Coimbatore: The inmates of three houses in the Muttukallor area had a narrow escape as they were evacuated just before the houses collapsed one after another, owing to heavy rains in Mettupalayam.
Coimbatore: The inmates of three houses in the Muttukallor area had a narrow escape as they were evacuated just before the houses collapsed one after another, owing to heavy rains in Mettupalayam.
Last night as a heavy thunderstorm lashed the Muttukalloor area, three houses in the centre of the village collapsed. The houses belonged to Mahesh Kumar, Krishnaswamy and Mathaiya Gowder. When the inmates of the houses saw the walls of the houses cracking, they immediately evacuated which saved them from any form of casualty.
There was heavy downpour in Coimbatore and areas in Mettuplayam, last night. Due to this, water levels in many parts of the western region of Mettupalayam including Karamadai, Veliyangadu, Thayanur and Pungampalayam were flooded.
