Meanwhile, heavy rains continue in the Western Ghats as the northeast monsoon rains begin to intensify. This has resulted in an increase in water levels in the Noyyal River. The first check dam of the Noyyal River, Chithiraichavadi has now reached its maximum capacity, while Perur Padithurai and the Noyyal river beds are now being flooded.
As the inflow of water into the Noyyal River continues to increase, the check dams will reach its maximum capacity soon. Public and volunteers who had been working tirelessly to desilt the Noyyal river in the past few months are delighted.
