Coimbatore: Even as over 100 houses were affected by floods caused due to heavy rains in Vellalore, the pond in the region overflowed.
Due to the early onset of the northeast monsoon season, there have been widespread rains in Coimbatore district for the past few days. Even as water was drained out from the overflowing pond in Vellalore, the water began encompassing Shakti Garden and Krishna Avenue at the rear of the temple.

Residents in the area say that though rainwater has been flooding their settlements for the past three days, the Coimbatore administration had not taken any action to stall the rainwaters from further flooding the area. They have now demanded immediate action to prevent further flooding of their settlements.
