Coimbatore: More than hundred students of Government High School in Valparai were imparted with self-defence training on Saturday.
With the increasing crime rates in India against women, the department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Human Resource Development had introduced self defence for girls under Samagra Shiksha, so as to make them strong and protect them during unforeseen situations like abuse or kidnaping.

As part of the mission, girl students above class 6 to 12 at all government schools across the country are being coached on basic self defence mechanisms.
In one such training event, more than hundred girl students of Government Secondary School at Sholaiyar dam in Valparai were imparted karate training.
Karate master Suresh Kumar from Coimbatore imparted training to the students.
