The relatives further requested that the health officials should take preventive measures on war footing to control dengue instead of manipulating the number of people suffering from the ailment.
Deepika (9), daughter of Babu, a resident of Periyar Nagar area in Puliakulam is a sixth-grade student of Marudhur Corporation Primary School. She has been suffering from fever for the past ten days and was admitted in CMCH on October 16. Inspite of critical treatment, she succumbed to her illness at 8 am yesterday, on October 18.
Though the Corporation and health officials denied occurrence of dengue, the sanitary workers sprayed medicines near the house of the deceased girl and the neighbourhood. Even in the death certificate of the girl, the officials at CMCH had noted other reasons but no mention of dengue fever has been noted.

" We admitted Deepika in CMCH on October 16, 2019, as she was suffering from fever. Few hours before her death only the doctor informed us that she was suffering from dengue. Before, we brought her body back to the house, the Corporation workers had sprayed mosquito medicine, bleaching powder and other chemical sprays. near our home. Yet, the health officials are hesitant to disclose the real cause of death which is dengue", said Manikandan, Deepika's relative.
The residents of Periyar Nagar have jointly alleged that the sanitary conditions at their colony is in a worst state and disease spreading mosquitos and flees are breeding in the area.
They also noted that Deepika died of dengue and the doctors and health officials are hiding the fact.

"Fever has been a common health ailment in the area. The death of a 9-year-old girl near our home has caused a sense of fear among us, and we request the authorities to take steps on war footing to eradicate the mosquitoes in the area" said the residents.
