With the onset of Northeast monsoon, the district of Coimbatore, Tirupur and the Nilgiris have been receiving copious rainfall for the past four days. Notably, the catchment area of Noyyal in Coimbatore has been receiving incessant rainfall, thus leaving the perennial river flood for the second time this year.
As a matter of precaution, the Tirupur district administration has issued a flood warning to those living along the bunds of the river.
The officials have asked the people not to panic and in case of any eventuality necessary arrangements have been made to accomodate the people in private marriage halls and government schools.
