Chennai: In a heart-stirring action of paying honour to a colleague, G Subbu Lakshmi, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Washermanpet broke convention protocols and carried the body of a deceased Inspector to the crematorium.
Chennai: In a heart-stirring action of paying honour to a colleague, G Subbu Lakshmi, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Washermanpet broke convention protocols and carried the body of a deceased Inspector to the crematorium.
The deceased Inspector Sridevi was a resident of Singarathottam, Vannarapettai and was posted as Inspector at the All Women's Police Station in the same area. Sridevi had been diagnosed with cancer four months back and was under treatment, but succumbed to cancer.
Minister Jayakumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Subbulakshmi and constables at Washermanpet paid homage to Sridevi's ast remains. The uniformed Deputy Commissioner led the procession, carrying the last remains of her colleague to the crematorium with other women police personnel following suit. Photos on the last journey have been going viral on social media.
